This Time It's True: Vizsla Dog Eats Books

Vizsla dog
We've all heard of the childhood excuse "my dog ate my books" back in elementary school but of course it never was true. However I just came across a funny New Zealand article about an adorable vizsla dog eating his owners' books. Here's the article from the http://www.scoop.co.nz website.

"An English couple who recently took a trip of a lifetime to New Zealand discovered their curious canine had a hankering for his own taste of 'Down Under'.

The prying puppy Zorro, a Hungarian Vizsla, was delighted at his owners' return and couldn't wait to see what our fair country looked like.

He found a precious momento, the scenic coffee table book New Zealand Landscapes which had been purchased at Aoraki Mount Cook's Hermitage Hotel, and promptly digested its contents.

Desperate to replace the book but unable to source it in the UK, the owners contacted The Hermitage Hotel who sent a replacement and a treat for Zorro."

Vizsla Dog Diet

vizsla dogYou may have a special diet that you keep your Vizsla dog on but you might not have heard of this recipe; liver bread. We know it probably sounds about as appetizing to you as it does to us but by the looks of the Vizsla in the picture, he seems ready to pounce on the stuff.

Dog Chef Melissa swears by the Liver Bread and Barf diet for her 4 - legged friends which she passed on to her friend Kit Richards, a Vizsla breeder in California.

The ingredients to the liver bread are basically, 1 lb. beef liver, 2 cups flour and ½ teaspoon garlic powder. Sounds simple enough. For more details on this tasty treat go to panamagourmet.blogs.com.

Vizsla Dog Fight?

vizsla dogIs this a picture of the lovable Vizsla dog breed fighting? Not a chance! This is actually an adorable picture of a Vizsla dog named Jackson playing at a dog park with her buddy Bruno, the Boxer.

The picture is actually taken from Bruno the Boxer's adorable family blog. It chronicles the life of Bruno and ends up at the dog park with the Boxer and the Vizsla dog playing quite energetically.

In fact the blog states that Jackson, the Vizsla was just way too fast for Bruno (although Bruno was still a puppy.) But the lightning speed of Jackson was noted as was also his playful and friendly demeanor with "more energy than he knew what to do with."

Press Secretary's Husband Day In The Slammer For Their Vizsla Dog

vizsla dogAs reported earlier White House Press Secretary Dana Perrino loves her Vizsla dog but that same Vizsla got her husband Peter McMahon in a bit of trouble.

It happened last year in November but is still worth Vizsla news on this blog. As it goes McMahon was doing the dastardly deed of walking his Vizsla dog in Lincoln Park just east of the Capital without a leash. Oh no!

When an officer asked McMahon to "gain control of" your dog, whose name is Henry and also to "put him on a leash" McMahon responded that he did not have one. This is where it gets bad.

The officer gave him a violation notice along with a small fine of 25 dollars. He then wished the officer on his way with a "why don't you go chase down some squirrels."

Long story short, McMahon had 15 days to pay the fine, which he didn't because he claims he did not have an address on the ticket of where to send it in. He finally did send the money to the Park Police eventually and mailed it in. But it was too late. A warrant was issued for his arrest and when he did try and clear up the now delinquent fine at the parks department he was arrested and spent a night in the slammer.

All for the love of a Vizsla dog.

A Healthy Vizsla Dog

Vizsla dogWhen you first bring your Vizsla puppy home you want to be a good parent and give it the best care possible. If you do your Vizsla dog should grow up to be a strong, healthy and vibrant hunting dog and family pet.

To keep an eye on your dog's health here are some vital signs that you should be aware of; breathing for healthy Vizsla dogs is between 15 and 30 respirations a minute during rest time. Your dog's temperature should be between 99.5 and 102.5 degrees. The heart rate for a healthy dog during rest is usually between 60 and 120 beats per minute. The normal glucose level for a dog is between 80 to 120 mg/dl and you can test them with a human glucose meter.

Know that with all dogs many things are poisonous including such things as Tylenol, Advil, chocolate, matches, cosmetics, deodorants, onions, suntan lotion and soap. Call your veterinarian immediately if you suspect your dog has ingested any of these.
